Laws regarding automated external defibrillators.

State Laws and Legal Concerns

In the United States, AEDs are prescription devices and require medical authorization by law. State laws vary when it comes to AEDs. All states allow AEDs; some require AEDs in certain locations such as schools or fitness facilities.

By simply dropping an AED off at a placement, an entity can increase its liability. A correct, thorough, and proper AED placement includes but is not limited to a site
assessment to determine the correct placement location, an unlocked wall cabinet to ensure visibility and accessibility, training, implementing the correct policy and procedures, and performing the required maintenance.

Liz will research your state and local laws regarding AEDs and help you ensure your program complies.
